Steps and Benefits of doing High Lunge Asana (Utthita Ashwa Sanchalanasana)

High Lunge pose is quite beneficial if practice regularly, and very helpful in stomach related problems. Never try to practice this High Lunge pose if one has a serious injury on the knee, neck problems. It helps us in many ways like in a therapeutic application; it helps us to get rid of the problems of indigestion, constipation, and sciatica.

Steps of doing High Lunge Asana

For the beginners, it is suggested to hold the pose longer, wedge a block between the floor and the back leg.

  • Start from doing the Uttanasana, which is the standing forward bending pose. 
  • Bend your knees and with inhale step your left foot back towards the back edge of your mat.
  • And put the ball of your foot on the floor.
  • Step back far enough so that your knee can form a right angle.
  • Just try to lay your torso on your front thigh and lengthen it forward. Start looking forward.
  • Firm the left thigh and push it up toward the ceiling, holding the left knee straight. Stretch your left heel towards the floor.
  • Exhale and step your right foot back beside the left.
  • Repeat the above steps by reversing left and right, and you may also come into Adho Mukha Svanasana, which is like a downward-facing dog pose. Inhale and step the right foot forward between your hands.
