Dharmachakra Mudra is a combination of two words dharma, which means divine law, and chakra means wheel. Hence, Dharmachakra Mudra means the wheel of divine law. It is a type of hand gesture and teaches us how to live perfectly. Fingers of the right hand in this mudra have its own significance like the middle finger signifies the person who listens to the teachings of Buddha, the ring finger means a private Buddha, means each person is Buddha, and the little finger shows the great vehicle that carries the sufferings of this world to another world. The fingers of the left-hand show the three jewels of Buddhism, the dharma, the Buddha, and the sangha. 

Steps of doing Dharmachakra Mudra

To reap the optimum benefits of Dharmachakra Mudra, you must practice it with a meditation on a regular basis. 

Meditation is not easy to do. You may not be able to concentrate if you are a beginner, so in the starting phase, focus on your breath, how to inhale and exhale, like air filled in your lungs and empty when exhale. This will surely help you in doing all asana in an easy mode.

  1. Get ready in a meditation pose with peaceful surroundings and sit in a comfortable posture or sukhasana as simple pose, or padmasana as lotus pose.
  2. Relax your body and jaw muscles, keep your lips apart slightly and take two or three breaths.
  3. Positioned your palms in the Anjali Mudra, focus your fingers when they together, and touch each other.
  4. Bring your hand in front of your heart at the center that is a chest.
  5. Place the tip of the index fingers on the tips of the thumb. This mudra will be termed as Gyan Mudra.
  6. The palm of the left hand must be must face your heart.
  7. Then turn your right hand and facing your right palm opposite yo your body.
  8. Touch your middle finger of your left hand the joining place of your thumb and index finger will make a circle with the right hand.
  9. Bring your focus to the fingers of both hands.
  10. Do the pose for 10 minutes at least or more, breath deeply, and focus on your breathing.
