Iyengar yoga is one of the most traditional yoga forms, based on the principles of astanga yoga. It possesses the utmost healing power and benefits the body in more than one way. It helps increase flexibility, corrects postures, strengthens muscles, tones it well. It also relieves you from the back and neck pain , studies confirm it. It gives you a calmer mind, pushes you to be present in the moment you practice it and the others. Its use of props such as block, blanket, chair marks a difference from other types.
Vinyasa yoga puts attention to coordination between movement and breathe regulation which flows from one pose to the next. Ashthaya , power yoga, prana flow, jivamukti, all come under vinyasa yoga.
( ashta+anya) means eight limbs or branches. Asana is its one branch out of eight. It produces intense internal ( boils the blood) and sweat ( purifies the toxing brought out by the boiled blood.) . blood circulates freely , removes any impurities , disease or pain. This form is often confused with the newly coined style power yoga. However, it are not synonymous with ashtanga vinyasa yoga consisting of other elements.
